I Just Watched Dr. Strangelove, Again. And, Thought About Peter Sellers.

I've been to Las Vegas, twice. When asked what I thought, I always said, Beneath the tinsel

and glitter, is more tinsel and glitter.

Sort of like the Catholic church, Beneath the myths, superstitions, tacky costumes, beanie caps (for cryin' out loud), unending bizarre rituals, talking snakes, virgin births, parting seas, drinking the blood of and eating the body of you-know-who, and on and on....is yes, more of the same.

I'm not wasting time on the miracles. Folks, it's 2016 and we're still talking about miracles.

Catholic church or Christopher Hitchens????? What do you folks think? Lest you folks think I don't like Catholics, my best friend was almost-a-priest. Thank the Lord he saw the light!

OK, I'll admit it, I'm a fan of John Oliver. In fact, I use so many of his videos maybe I should rename my blog. He does a great job in bringing us information that we need and doing in in a humorous manner. John Oliver for president?

Statues of Trump were erected? in several cities around our great country. Here's what the NYC Parks Department said....

The most surprising government agency to lampoon Donald Trump this week? The New York City Parks Department.

The department issued a short response after an arts group called Indecline hoisted a life-size, naked Trump statue in Union Square park Thursday.

"NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small," said Sam Biederman, a parks spokesman.

INDECLINE are the folks who placed the statues. Interesting folks, I guess....

Are We in the US Ready for a Nekid First Lady........?

Nekid snaps of Melania Trump are popping up. If interested, take a look here and here. Also, I learned a new word today. A commenter to our local newspaper, used the word sybarite when making a post about Trump.

My mom always said that we should never make fun of how a person looks. She said they had no choice and that they were born that way.

Yes, I agree with my mom and always try to remember her advice. However, I  think if you have yourself photographed and put the image out there for us all to see, well, that changes things.

Speaking from the guys' standpoint, there seems to be a wide range when it comes to what we think is appealing. Some of us like short women, some tall, some redheads, some blondes, some skinny, some more Rubenesque, and so on.

Now, Melania doesn't seem all that cool to me. She seems....hmmm.....fake and a tad sleazy? She also seems to have gone under the knife. Another aspect for me would be, what kind of person would marry Donald Trump? 

As a not-so-good analogy, I guess it could be asked, if you wanted a car for the long term, a car you had to drive daily, would you pick a high-performance Ferrari or something less flashy and more reliable? 

For a day at the track, the Ferrari would be great, you know, rev it to the throttle cut off, torture the brakes, toss it through the corners, drive it like you stole it.....but, to drive daily to work, pick up groceries, pay for the maintenance, and so on? Maybe, not so great.

I, for one, am not ready for the Trumps.

Anyway, enough of this....

Voter Fraud.... Voter ID...... What Do You Folks Think?

The folks in North Carolina seem to spend a lot of time in court. Yes, they want everyone to have a photo ID before they can vote. Seems they lost the latest court battle. Actually, requiring a photo doesn't sound all that ominous, does it? Reasonable? Most politicians stress they are not trying to discriminate, they want to avoid voter fraud. What do you folks think? 

Not sure about you but when I want to the real skinny on a topic, I know where to go. NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, or WSJ? Nope, for me there's only one person to trust. Yep, John Oliver!!!

Have You Ever Done Anything Stupid? Ridiculous? Used Poor Judgement?

Well, I surely have done all of the above. In fact, gosh, I've made so many mistakes...mostly

what I've done are mistakes.

However, Ronnie Music, Jr., I think has bested us all in doing the most stupid thing. This fellow won a three-million dollar lottery. And, what did he do? He invested his winnings in the meth trade.

During Bernie's speech, the camera showed several people at the conference who were shedding tears. And, yes, there were many Bernie signs raised. Bernie's speech seemed like the good old days......well, you know what I mean. Finally, yes, at the end he did say we need to elect Clinton.

Here's the CNN article. And, you have too many darn names. Yes, in my 76 years, Bernie is the first politician that I have sent contributions. Say what you want about Bernie....a politician with a net worth of less than a million and last year's income of a little over $200,000. He's one of us.

I think one of Bernie's biggest problems was that he never defined what he meant by Democratic Socialist. Most people immediately considered him a communist, for cryin' out loud.

Many, if not all of our programs can be considered socialist in nature. And, is that bad? Is it bad to help folks who have fallen on bad times? Oh, well. Sadly, Bernie is not going to be our guy.

I started the Crap Head awards some time ago. There's been three, four, five of them. I can't remember. But, surely old Deepak rates one. Period.

It's sad that an actual MD believes in BS. Of course, he could just be just a regular old charlatan and snake oil salesman.
